Dyanna Spa is one of the first waxing salons in New York City. We’ve been offering male genital waxing services since 1983, when we started out in our first location. This was long before the treatment was branded as “Brazilian Waxing”…by Brazilians!
Historically, pubic waxing has been around for more than 3000 years. Egyptians used a concoction of oil and honey, (similar to what is now known as “sugaring”), because their concept of beauty consisted of perfectly smooth and hairless skin. Youth, beauty and hairlessness was later adopted by the Greeks and Romans.
In the early days of our waxing business, our clientele consisted of members of the gay community, bodybuilders, athletes, members of the porn industry, and Muslims, who as part of their religious practices, are required to remove pubic hair.
When we moved to our 21st Street location in 1987, we continued to offer Brazilian waxing for men and women. Today, in addition to our previous customers, our clients come from all walks of life – straight men, grandfathers, husbands and blue and white-collar workers.
